Are you looking for an air conditioner that can deliver reliability and efficiency? First, let me introduce you to the Trane XR17. This video will go over its features and cost and see who might benefit most from this system.
Hi, I’m Roger with Fire & Ice. Since 2004 we have helped thousands of Central Ohio homeowners find the best HVAC system to meet their needs. We’re often asked if any air conditioners will be reliable and efficient. And the answer that often comes up is the Trane XR17 air conditioner. In this video, we’ll go over its features, benefits, and efficiency rating, see who is a good fit for this system, and its cost. You’ll know if the Trane XR16 air conditioner is right for you by the end of this video.
What are the features of the Trane XR17 air conditioner?
Let’s get started and look at the many features and benefits of the Trane XR17 air conditioner. First up is its two-stage compressor, which means it outputs in two levels depending on the need for cooling. When it first kicks on, it starts in its lower stage and uses 60 to 70% of its total capacity. The XR17 will run its lower stage most of the time and only enter into the second stage when 100% capacity is needed. Running the XR17 longer in its lower stage will allow for a more even distribution of cool air, which helps solve uneven temperatures and hot and cold spots inside the home. It can also help save on energy since it won’t need to run at 100% throughout the summer. Another benefit is the peace of mind with the compressor’s ten-year limited warranty.
The last feature to mention is the durable design of the Trane XR17. Even though it may not have all the features of higher-end air conditioners, that doesn't make the XR17 low-quality. Trane puts all the equipment they make through rigorous tests to ensure they will perform day in and day out.
What is the efficiency rating of the Trane XR17?
The Trane XR17 is one of the more efficient air conditioners on the market and boasts up to 18 SEER. SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and measures efficiency during the average cooling season. Most air conditioners on the market today range between 14 and 22 SEER.
Who is the Trane XR17 air conditioner a good fit for?
The Trane XR17 air conditioner is a good fit for homeowners looking for a reliable air conditioner that can help save them money in energy costs. Thanks to its two-stage compressor, the XR17 can help save up to 55% on cooling costs compared to older 10 SEER or lower systems. And if you experience temperature swings or hot and cold spots in the home, the Trane XR17 might be worth considering.
However, if you plan on moving shortly or your current single-stage air conditioner is currently meeting your needs, the XR17 may be more system than you need. And it should be noted that it’s not the quietest system out there, with a nominal sound level of up to 74 decibels. For comparison, a vacuum runs at around 70 decibels.
How much does the Trane XR17 air conditioner cost?
To have the Trane XR17 installed in your home, expect to pay between $8,910 and $11,990. A new air conditioner installation can range between $5,060 and $16,720. At Fire & Ice, all of our estimates include the cost of equipment, labor, and any additional fees.
Several factors can affect the price of an air conditioner, such as its capacity, the size of your home, additional indoor air quality products, and modifications needed during installation. As a result, we like to say there is no one-size-fits-all solution for HVAC systems.
