Hi, I'm Luke from Fire & Ice and when we talk about indoor air quality, we're talking about the levels of health, safety and comfort of air in your home. One way you can improve the air quality of your home is by using a humidifier. In this video, you will learn everything you need to know about humidifiers. We'll start with the basics. What is a humidifier? What are the benefits of a humidifier? What about the cost? And finally, is a humidifier right for you? We hope by the end of this video you'll know how humidifier can improve indoor air quality and if a humidifier is right for you.

What is a humidifier and how does it work?

So, let's jump in and see what a humidifier is. And how does it work? A humidifier is a device that increases humidity or the amount of moisture in the air. The humidifier brings water vapor into the duct system through a distribution tray, which helps adjust the humidity levels and prevents harmful materials from coming into the air.

Keeping the relative humidity levels in your home balanced between 35 to 50% is ideal for your health and comfort. With the installation of a whole home humidifier you can have it installed to work with your current heating and cooling system and not worry about turning it on or off.

What are the benefits of a humidifier?

So, let's talk a little bit about some of the benefits of a humidifier. One is that it can prevent respiratory problems. It also increases personal comfort by eliminating symptoms such as dry skin and noses and scratchy throats. In addition, it can save your dry hardwood floors from cracking walls, from warping paint, from chipping and electronics, from getting damaged. Finally, one of the biggest benefits you can save energy and money by allowing you to keep your thermostat at lower temperatures.

How much does it cost?

So how much does a humidifier cost? The average homeowner spends $600 to $1,000 to install a humidifier with professional services.

What are the factors that vary the pricing of a humidifier?

What are the factors that may vary in pricing of a humidifier? It depends on the sizing of your home, as well as the tightness of your home and how much air actually comes through your windows and doors.

Is a humidifier right for you?

So, is a humidifier right for you? One situation where a humidifier makes sense is when you're experiencing health issues like dry skin, bloody noses or sinus problems, or you notice an increase in static electricity.

Another situation is if you feel cold even if the thermostat is set high. One situation where a humidifier might not make sense is when you already have a high level of humidity in your home. People living in warm, humid climates may not need a humidifier for their home.

Challenging job with my small attic space, but they did a great job of getting the whole new HVAC installed. Staff were polite and knowledgeable, they clearly wanted to do the job right and took pride in their work.

Kyle is the best! After hours call for AC not working. The company who installed the unit couldn’t get anyone to our house for over 5 DAYS! Fire and Ice was recommended by a coworker. I called and gave my info for an emergency house call. 10 minutes later Kyle called. Less than An hour later my AC was repaired! Pricewas super reasonable (especially considering it’s after 9 pm) No fuss, no gimmicks and super nice. Kyle you’re our hero!

Great experience having all their people in our home to help us replace both 21 yr old heating & air conditioning units. They were recommended by our son since they did an efficient and quick job in their furnace breakdown. From Roger, who walked us through buying the units, to Floyd & Daniqua, the technicians that installed both Trane units, we found them very courteous, efficient and knowledgeable! We highly recommend Fire & Ice for your HVAC needs!!

Bryan and Nick were both very professional and friendly! When there is someone in your home typically it isn't like you can relax and go about your day but we were totally able to do just that. It is like they were not even here as they worked hard for 9+ hours to get the job done. Please tell them THANK YOU for being so awesome at what they do! Huge kudos to both gentlemen and you are lucky to have them on your team.
