I'm Josh from Fire and Ice. And in this video, we're going to talk about the cost of a heat pump. Because this question is one of the most common questions we receive from our customers. We will break down the options and show you a range of prices that could work for you.

You might find yourself in a situation where you need to replace your current heat pump system. After talking with thousands of our clients. We have found that cost is one of the most common factors. So, we've broken this video down to three categories to show you a range of options available and features that are included in each category. The three categories are entry-level, mid-range, and high-end heat pumps in each category.

We will break down what is the price range for a heat pump? What are some specific models that are included in this category? What are some of the features that are included with these heat pumps? What’s the price range for an entry-level heat pump?

So let's jump in and see what's the price range for an entry level? Heat pump entry level. Heat pumps have a price range of $5,500 to approximately $8,000, Why is this price range there? Well, there are many factors, but just a couple are maybe the size of the home, maybe there's some ductwork, modifications or specific install parameters that need to be met.

A couple of specific models that are in the category of entry level heat pumps are Trane XR14 and also a Carrier Comfort 15 series. Some of the features that are included with an entry level heat pump would be a single stage compressor, meaning on or off. It's basic, it's entry level, but it will provide reliable heating and cooling for your home.

Who's the right fit for this type of heat pump? It is entry level. It's basic. So typically, it's more on a budget friendly option for people. It's good for rental properties or even maybe vacation homes.

What’s the price range for a mid-range heat pump?

All right let's move on. Let's talk about what is the price range for a mid-range heat pump. So typically, the price range for anything on the mid-level is going to be $7,500 to maybe $11,000. Why is there a range in the price? Well, again, it depends on a lot of things the size of the home. Ductwork. Or any installation modifications that are necessary. A couple of the models that are included in this category are the Trane XL18 and the Carrier Performance 16 series.

So, some features and benefits that are included in the mid-range category of heat pumps are, first of all, a two-stage compressor. So, instead of single stage where it's just on and off. Now we have two stages. We have the ability to go maybe at 60% for lighter days, up to 100% to maximize potential on those full load days. That sound insulator on a compressor which makes it a little bit quieter. Has a higher sear rating, which means more efficiency. That means it costs you less to keep your home at the temperature you'd like. So, who's the right fit for this type of heat pump? This type of heat pump is a good balance between budget limits you may have today and your desires for long term energy savings.

What’s the price range for a high-end heat pump?

Finally, let's see what's the price range for a high-end heat pump? So typical price range for the higher end. Heat pumps start off around $9,000 and can go up to $13,000. Again, it just depends on what your needs are specific to your home. How big your home is. Ductwork restrictions, or maybe modifications and other installation requirements to make sure this system is installed properly. A couple of the models included in the high-end category are the Trane XV20i and the Carrier Infinity 20 series Some of the benefits and features in the high end heat pumps include variable speed technology, which is like cruise control on your car or maybe more familiar with the dimmer switch it's on your wall. That can bring that light up and down based on your needs. Same thing with the compressor keeps the temperature or your comfort within one half a degree of the thermostat setting. So now we can deliver optimal humidity and temperature control. All based on your personal preferences.

Who is the right fit for this high-end type of heat pump? Long term owners. Individuals who want to lower their energy bills. Homeowners who want to have complete control of the comfort inside their home and customize it to their needs.
