Are you looking for a high-efficiency furnace that will reliably heat your home without costing you an arm and a leg? Let me introduce you to the Trane S9X2. In this video, we’ll go over its features and cost and see who will get the most benefit from this furnace.

Hi I’m Alex from Fire & Ice. We work with hundreds of Central Ohio residents to customize an HVAC system to meet their individual needs. We’re often asked if there is a reliable yet affordable furnace that can deliver in both comfort and efficiency. One answer is the Trane S9X2, and in this video, we’ll go over its features and benefits, its efficiency rating, see who is the right fit, and review its cost. By the end of this video, you’ll know if the Trane S9X2 gas furnace is right for you and your home.

What are the features of the Trane S9X2?

Let’s take a look at the benefits of the Trane S9X2. First is its two-stage gas valve, meaning the furnace operates in two capacities. It’ll use about 60 to 70% of its total capacity when it first kicks on. Then, it’ll enter its second stage when more heat is needed and use its full power. Most of the time, the S9X2 will run in its lower setting, saving you money in energy, being more efficient, and controlling temperature.

The next feature is its Vortica II blower, which delivers consistent air distribution with near whisper-quiet operation. The nice thing about this motor is it won’t slam on every time it kicks on, resulting in more extended longevity and better efficiency.

The last feature to note is the S9X2’s smaller, insulated cabinet made from heavy steel. The smaller cabinet is designed to fit virtually anywhere, be airtight, and keep noise levels down.

What is the Efficiency Rating for the S9X2?

The Trane S9X2 is considered a high-efficiency furnace with an AFUE rating of 96%. This means every time it fires up, 96% of the fuel used is going towards heating your home, and the other 4% is exhausted as waste. So if we think of it in terms of money, for every dollar spent on fuel, 96 cents is going towards heating your home, and the remainder is going towards waste.

Who is Trane S8X2 a good fit for?

So you might be wondering, will the Trane S9X2 work for my home? The Trane S9X2 is ideal for homes that experience hot and cold spots during the winter, experience high gas bills, or simply want to replace an aging system with a reliable gas furnace that will continue to provide heat for many years to come.

Thanks to its two-stage gas valve, you’ll be able to combat uneven temperatures and hot and cold spots during the winter. And its blower motor will reliably and efficiently push cool air throughout your home during the summer. In addition, you’ll barely notice it running thanks to the insulated cabinet and blower motor—a drastic change from noisy single-stage systems that are either 100% on or off. And if you’re tight on space, the S9X2 can fit in most areas with its 34” cabinet height. Although the smaller cabinet can result in higher static pressure, some adjustments may need to be made during installation.

But I will say the S9X2 isn’t for everyone, though. For example, if you’re looking for complete control over your indoor comfort, you might consider higher-end modulating furnaces with communicating technology. And on the other side, if you’re satisfied with your single-stage furnace or not looking to spend a lot of money, the S9X2 may be more system than you need.

How much does Trane S8X2 cost?

Now for arguably the most crucial question, how much does it cost. To have the Trane S9X2 installed in your home, expect to pay $6,6000 and $7,480. But note, at Fire & Ice, all prices include the cost of equipment, labor, and everything needed for a proper installation. In addition, a new furnace replacement can cost anywhere between $3,300 and $10,010.

We like to say there are no one-size-fits-all solutions for HVAC. Several factors can affect the price, such as the furnace’s capacity, the size of your home, filters and other indoor air quality products, where the system is located, and any modifications that may be needed during installation.
