So just like changing the oil in your car, your HVAC system requires maintenance in order to work properly and efficiently year round. In this video, our team will answer the most commonly asked questions that we receive for HVAC maintenance.

I'm Jerad Kingery, the Service Manager for Fire & Ice. Most people send their car in about once or twice a year to get an oil change or rotate the tires and the same concept applies for your HVAC system. It's important to receive regular maintenance on your HVAC system in order to maintain top efficiency ratings and to avoid potential breakdowns to your system. As a team, we have answered thousands of questions regarding the maintenance process over the years, so we've compiled seven of the most common questions we're asked by customers.

What area do you service for maintenance?

Why should I have maintenance done regularly?

The very first thing we make sure of on a maintenance call is that the system is operating safely. A good example of that is to make sure there are no electrical hazards. We also want to make sure that the system is performing at its top mechanical standards. So that satisfies all of your comfort needs.

How much does it cost for maintenance?

Our basic plan is only $29 per month. It also comes with a one-year warranty on any repairs. Our mid-range plan is $42 per month with a two year warranty and our comprehensive plan is $59 per month. And it comes with a three-year warranty.

Why is there a cost when the system is under warranty?

So why is there a cost for maintenance when the system is under warranty? Let's return to the car analogy. You change your oil because you probably have a lifetime powertrain warranty or something similar. The same applies your HVAC system. The manufacturer honors the warranty if the system is kept to a certain level of professional maintenance. Our main is plan includes priority status, preseason scheduling, monthly payment options and discounts on equipment and repairs.

How long does it take for maintenance?

Our basic plan is about 45 minutes to an hour per system. Our mid-range plan is about an hour to an hour and a half per system. And then our comprehensive plan is about two to two and a half hours per system.

Do I have to be home during the visit?

Do I have to be home during the visit? No, but it is preferred just in case there are any questions that arise, or is there something that can improve the comfort of the home.

When should I have my system checked?

We recommend maintenance at least two times per year, usually in the spring and the fall. Once for the heating, once for the cooling. If you purchased a system with Fire & Ice, we recommend getting a maintenance plan. One year after installation. We offer maintenance plans regardless if you purchased a system with us or not, and that includes any manufacturer.
