Smart thermostats save homeowners money by implementing presence detecting, which is a fancy way of saying a smart sensor. A smart thermostat can detect motion in the home. Once the thermostat recognizes that there is no motion (no one in the house), it will adjust the temperature a few degrees to keep your home comfortable while reducing your overall energy costs, thus saving you money.
