Are you looking for a high-efficiency furnace that is affordable and can deliver great results? Let me introduce you to the Carrier Comfort 95 gas furnace. In this video we’ll go over its features, explore the cost, and see who might benefit most from this furnace.

Hi I’m Roger from Fire & Ice. Year after year we meet with thousands of Central Ohio homeowners to help determine their best heating and cooling solution. When our customers ask us about any straightforward high efficiency furnaces that deliver, the solution often is the Carrier 59SC5 or better known as the Comfort 95. In this video we’ll go over its features, the efficiency rating, who will benefit the most from this furnace, and its cost. By the end of this video, you’ll know if the Carrier Comfort 95 is right for you and your home.

What are the features of the Carrier Comfort 95?

Let’s begin and take a look at the features of the Carrier Comfort 95. For starters is its single-stage gas valve which means it uses 100% of its capacity every time it turns on. This tried-and-true technology allows for reliable, and consistent heating.

Next is its multi-speed ECM motor, which is more efficient compared to older fixed speed motors. The nice thing about these motors is they don’t slam on at full throttle when the system turns on. They gradually ramp up over a period of several seconds. This approach means the blower will last longer, use less electricity, and result in quieter operation.

Not only is the motor quiet, the Comfort 95 is also housed inside a fully insulated, 20-gauge steel cabinet designed to keep the noise down. It also comes with an ignition system called PowerHeat, which is the most durable on the market today. It’s a hot surface ignition system that gets rid of the need for a pilot light, optimizes gas usage, and promotes more consistent operation.

The last feature of note is its warranty. The Comfort 95 comes with a 10-year parts warranty and a 20-year limited warranty on the heat exchanger. Talk about peace of mind.

What is the Efficiency Rating for the Comfort 95?

The Carrier Comfort 95’s is considered a high efficiency furnace with an AFUE efficiency rating of up to 96.5%. This means that every time it kicks on, 96-and-a-half percent of the fuel used goes towards heating your home. The other 3-and-a-half percent is exhausted as waste. If we think of it in terms of money, for every dollar spent on fuel, 96 and a half cents goes towards heating your home.

Who is Carrier Comfort 95 a good fit for?

The Carrier 95 is ideal for homeowners who are budget conscious, content with the comfort of their home and are looking for a high-efficiency furnace that can help lower their utility bills. As a single stage furnace it will provide plenty of heat in the winter and during the summer can push the air conditioned air efficiently throughout your home. If your current furnace is 20 years or older, you’ll likely see a significant energy cost savings. Simply put, if you’re on a budget and looking for a high-efficiency furnace that will reliably heat your home in the winter, then the Comfort 95 is worth considering.

However, the Comfort 95 is not ideal for homeowners who have comfort concerns such as uneven temperatures, hot and cold spots, humidity issues, the list goes on. If you’re looking to solve one or more comfort concerns you might want to consider a furnace with more features.

How much does Carrier Comfort 95 cost?

Now for the brass tax. How much does it cost? To have the Comfort 95 installed in your home, expect to pay between $4,200 and $4,800. This range includes the cost of equipment, labor, and everything that’s needed for a proper installation.
