Transformers typically last the life of the furnace but can fail because of electrical surges or other electrical issues. When a transformer fails, the furnace may not respond to thermostat commands or operate correctly.

Gas Valve: The gas valve controls the flow of natural gas or propane to your furnace's burners, allowing the system to safely produce heat when needed. Gas valves generally have a long service life and often last as long as the furnace itself.
The type of gas valve depends on your furnace's operating style. Single-stage, two-stage, and modulating furnaces each use different gas valves to regulate heating output and maintain comfort.
